The Greenstone Guide to Austin & The Hil Country

JOHNNY FIN'S

ABOUT THE PLACE

Up until January 2002 this place was known as Sam Hill Waterfront Grill. Then they sold out. Sam Hill was my favorite restaurant on Lake Travis, but now it's Johnny Fin's but it's still good. Jonny Fin's has a bit of that corporately designed slick feel to it compared with the old Sam Hill restaurant which seemed a little more long-time family-run which was nice. The service is good and the folks working there are always friendly.

My food recommendations there are the Smothered Tuna and the Jalapeño Olive Burger. Stay away from their Buffalo Wings - weird tasting sauce.

HOW TO GET THERE

Going upstream from the dam, it is the first big cove on the left about 2 miles past Carlos 'n Charlies. It is behind the Hurst Harbor Marina in Hurst Cove. This is the same cove in which they do the Lakeway Fireworks on the 4th of July.
